Clean Vehicle Act: Federal Tax Incentives
No matter where you live, even in states not as EV-friendly as Vermont, there are federal tax incentives available to help reduce the cost of purchasing or leasing a new EV or PHEV. New EVs can qualify for up to $7,500 in federal tax incentives. If you choose to buy or finance a new EV, then claim the vehicle on your next tax return and receive the incentive as a deduction of your total tax burden. The incentive reduces the tax liability and gives new EV owners around Burlington, VT, an indirect discount. The federal tax incentive is non-refundable and cannot exceed the total tax liability.
